The movie star appeared on “Late Night with David Letterman” Wednesday to promote her new film “Magic in the Moonlight” and charmed the host with a story about her grandfather — who happens to be dead.
In the film, Stone plays a spiritualist who claims she can communicate with the dead. So when Letterman asked if she’s ever had a real-life supernatural experience, Stone told him “there’s a long family history with quarters.”
“My grandfather leaves quarters,” she continued. “It’s just amazing. It’s him. It’s absolutely him.”
“This is your late grandfather. And you find a quarter, ‘Oh, I bet that’s from granddad?’” Letterman said.
“Yes,” Stone replied. “Who I never met! But it’s exactly like that.”
